Target stock vs Maximum stock level

Hello,

Would anyone explain to me the difference between target stock and maximum stock level?

When launching MRP, (MRP type :RP, lot size HB), the system always goes for target stock rather than maximum stock level.

Is Target stock just for retail and maximum stock for ordinary industry?

Hello,

If you are doing replenishment based on Target Stock/ Reorder Point, Target stock is same as Maximum Target Stock. You do not need to maintain Maximum Target stock here.

If your RP type calculates Target Stock (I think RP type RF calculates it based on Range of Coverage), you can maintain a max limit at Maximum Target Stock. Then the calculated Target Stock will not exceed the max limit.

Since Max/Min Target stocks are stored in WRPL table, I think this is meant for Retail Industry.
