Hello everybody,
does SAP recommend or consider it necessary to generally set up the basic customizing for the SAP workflow and also to run the workflow background jobs? Even if no SAP workflow is used in the system?
Are there any differences between ECC and HANA systems?
Background of my question: As I see it, workflow background jobs are automatically scheduled in HANA with the job repository, even though no basic customizing is set up. The result is that e.g. Job SAP_WORKFLOW_SYSTEM aborts because no SM59 connection is set up.
Thanks and best regards,
Christian
Hi Christian,
I don't think that you will stay without workflow for long, (In S4H the Fiori application to release the Purchase Order and Purchase Requistion) only works with workflow); so you'd better get prepared.

Hi,
There are not much difference in ECC and HANA. But some addition is there in S4Hana.
Thanks

Hi Christian,
I would think that it's better to have the SM59 connection set up, and workflow background jobs running. But I am kind of workflow-centric so that's just my opinion.
Workflow jobs have been around for decades I don't think they are resource intensive even though you don't have any SAP Workflow used at this time.
Hope this helps,
Sue
