View Cluster to be accessed by multiple users in parallel to create entries

Hi,

we have a custom view cluster having three views and we want it be accessed by multiple users. Please let me know is it technically possible to make it like this. Thank you

Regards,

  • Technically it is more or less like SM30 one person per user. It does not look possible an alternative would be a custom tcode. Any reason why do you want multiple people to be able to edit the same? It will break the integrity

With SM30 and SM34 (view cluster, i.e. a group of SM30 dialogs), the default lock is "global" and "pessimistic" (i.e. set at the beginning), so a second user can't maintain the same view or table at the same time, as you said.

But with view clusters, you may define ABAP code for the "EQ" (enqueue) event, in that case I think that the standard locks won't be set.

If you also define the initial view as based on a Maintenance View with a field with attribute "S", then a selection dialog is displayed when you enter the view cluster, and it will force the user to enter the "S" fields.

The "EQ" event is called before the selection dialog is displayed, so you should be able to do the lock only for the selected value.

PS: this is my opinion, but I never tested it.
