Dear soumen,

Please go through the ote 919588 - Offline backup with RMAN fails. or try to update your brtools with latest patch and then try running the same.

Dear Kishore,

I have checked note 919588. In my case, the database yet not a very large database, size within 100GB and about 30 data files. so I don't know whether still my case similar as indicated in note. Because in the note it says,

"In the case of large databases containing several hundred files, the command requires correspondingly large sorting areas...."

And secondly, forgive my ignorance where do I set this parameter BR_SAS? in init<SID>.ora/spfile<SID>.ora or init<SID>.sap? or somewhere else?

Soumen.

Dear Soman,

Check R3trans -d with user by which you are starting brbackup.

If got error send it.

Dear Darshan,

I am executing brtools from ORA<SID> user. SID is PIB.

R3Trans -d is giving following output

This is R3trans version 6.14 (release 700 - 10.02.10 - 13:32:00).

unicode enabled version

Dear Darshan,

I feel this is going to a wrong direction, R3Trans is showing me problem as this was run from ORA<SID> .

If the same command is executed from SID<ADM> it does not give any problem.

I was trying to execute RMAN using BRTools and I am executing the BRTools from ORA<SID>. As for traditional hot backup also I am using BRTools from ORA<SID>.

I am not sure whether this is the cause? And this should not be because, traditional backup goes fine.

Soumen.

Hi,

What are the permissions of BRTools (brbackup, brarchive, brspace, brrestore, brtools)

Check as per the below note:

[113747 - Permissions for DBA tools BRTools and SAPDBA|https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/113747]

It is necessary to have correct permissions set on BRTools for taking backup using other tools (such as RMAN).

Dear Soumen,

I feel this is going to a wrong direction, R3Trans is showing me problem as this was run from ORA<SID> .

If the same command is executed from SID<ADM> it does not give any problem.

Try BRtools with <SID>adm user definitely it will be successfull. & Problem of R3trans with ORASID is because of OPS$ Mechanism.

If getting permission problem run from Kernel

sqlplus /nolog @sapdba_role.sql <SID> or SR3 i.e whatever your SCHEMA SAPSID or SAPSR3 & check logs should not be contain any error.

Note 400241for ops$ & some more notes are attached with it are helpfull for the same.

Does the .lock.brb file exists when brbackup is not active? If so, delete it and restart the backup..

Kind regards,

Mark

Hi,.

lock.brb file is automatically deleted once brbackup is compleetd successfully or unsuccessfully.

So pls check the note which i have told. Its not related to lock.brb issue.

Kishore
