Process Chain Application Server

Former Member

Hi

I am adding an application server to our SCM 5.0 instance, on a new server, as the process chains are using nearly 90% of our Central Instance CPU overnight, are there any settings/parameters I need to make after the application server install for the Process Chains to make use of the new app server.

Thanks.

Hi,

When we maintain a process chain, one of the attribute to be maintained is "Background Server".

Here we can specify the server or server group on which we want to schedule all the jobs in the chain.

If we do not specify a server or server group, background management distributes the jobs across the available servers.

Your basis administrator personnel will add the new application server name in the server group.

I hope this gives you insight.

Please confirm.

I have a similar issue where I have 2 Application servers available. But to choose one of the application servers manually, is Scheduling the only option where it prompts for server name or is there any alternative option in the process chain to enter the application server.

Hi ,

I am reproducing my part of the reply below:

If we do not specify a server or server group, background management distributes the jobs across the available servers.

This should serve your purpose ( instead of fixing one Process chain to one server only).

If you have 3 servers and want to use 2 servers, then make a server group of these 2 and input this server group in the proces chain .

I hope this clarifies the query.

Please check and confirm.
