Internet of Things Message Processing - Kafka integration and configuration

hopefuly two quick questions:

1) The documentation of Internet of Things message processing states that "The Kafka processing service forwards messages to a self-provided Kafka cluster" with the following two parameters

• The IPs of the Kafka broker cluster
• The topic name to which messages are forwarded

What exactly is meant with a self-provided kafka cluster? Let's assume we already have a kafka cluster running (not in SAP Cloud Platform), would it be possible to forward data to this kafka cluster? If so, how?

2) Let's assume I already have a running IoT service and I would like to add e.g. HTTP forwarding? How can this done? The documentation only describes the inital setup, but I do not want to have another service just adjust the one I already have (I do not want to get new service keys)
