Theorotical Question: SAP Interactive Forms - External Communication

Hello,

I've been busy configuring SAP Interactive Forms in our system and got everything working. I've learned that it's very hard, not to say impossible, to configure SAP Interactive Forms for all Processing Types (Fax/Print/Mail). Up on defining 'External Communication' a Format has to be defined, this can either be: print/mail/fax. Only 1 entry max. can be maintained here and it needs to be specified, otherwise you'll get processing erros.

So what i did is maintain BBP_PO_ADB_MAIL Format entry for 'External Communication'. And i thought i could maybe add another 'External Communcation' entry for print and fax but the SRM system is not allowing us to do this! "Only 1 entry of 'External Communcation' can be defined, entry has to be unique". There neither is the possibility to add/customize additional 'External Communication' entries.

So basically I concluded in using SAP Interactive Forms for E-mail processing (works properly) and keep on using SMARTFORMS for Print and Fax. Since Interactive Forms would possibly contain interactive functionallity it wouldn't be of use in Print or Fax any way. Is this what SAP is trying to get us to do? I read that SAP won't be supporting/enhance SMARTFORMS anymore but will choose the SAP Interactive Forms direction. How come we can not use SAP Interactive Forms for more then 1 processing type then?

Ps. I do know that a possible possible solution would be to create mutiple 'custom action profiles', 1 for print, 1 for mail, 1 for fax but this seems too strange for calling it a solution to me.

Jay Yang, could you look in to this and tell me what you think?

Kind regards,

Tim
