Hello experts,

Is it recommended to Upgrade from SRM 3.0 to SRM 7.0 (2 step upgrade) or do a re-implementation on SRM 7.0 ?

Can any one provide possible merits & de-merits, cost & effort involved etc in each case.

Thanks

Hi,

1 step upgrade is possible. Please check the Upgrade Guide. http://service.sap.com/srm-inst.

Hello Masa,

Thanks for the info. As per the document, On-step upgrade is not supported from SRM3.0 to SRM7.0

"You can perform a two-step upgrade from SAP SRM 3.0 to SAP SRM 7.0. You can upgrade from SAP

SRM 3.0 to SAP SRM 5.0, and then from SAP SRM 5.0 you can subsequently upgrade to SAP SRM 7.0."

So, in this case, is it recommended to upgrade from 3 to 5 and then 5 to 7 OR straight away go for implementing SRM7.0?

Thanks,

Hi,

I see the change history 1.2. There must be some reason for change. Maybe the standard mainstream maintenance has been expired for SRM 3.0.

2/17/2010 Information about upgrade from SAP SRM 3.0 updated.

In that case I recommend 2 step upgrade.

Thanks again Masa,

Could you pls tell one or two reasons, how 2-step upgrade is advantageuos than implementing SRM7.0?

Thanks

1. Customer can access existing documents

2. Less configuration - No master data setup, no old document data migration

Hi,

I just checked the Upgrade Guide SRM 7.0 SR1. It says 1 step upgrade is supported from SRM 3.0 (SRM Server 4.0).

http://service.sap.com/srm-inst

It looks the restriction has been removed.

Regards,

Masa
