Connection Wizard pops up every time I log in to BPC 7 MS

Hello - every time I log in to BPC (Excel, Word, even the Admin console) I am prompted for the Connection Wizard, but only the 2nd step where I choose to use my Windows ID and password or use another login. I always choose Windows ID and password, but when we first installed I switched logins several times since I am an Administrator and needed to log in as the Sys Admin to make some Security changes (including changes to my own account). Does anyone know if there is a way I can skip this step now and have it just use my Windows ID and password every time?

We are running v. 7.0.115.03 on MS.

Shawn

Hello

In BPC server manager, check if you have SOX-compliance enabled, if yes disable it

(options-->client options)

SOX is not enabled. I am the only user that has this issue, that I know of. No others have mentioned it, and I think they would tell me if they did since I am the Admin and main point of contact for the app.

This may not work in all environments, but here is something to try, and this would only be an option if the "Sox" box is not checked.... I'd be interested in others' comments:

1. Login to BPC using the icon on your desktop, enter your domain/user id and password and check the "save password" box. I have found this pushes the updated password to the BPC for Excel application. If you don't get prompted for your user id, this is a problem. Go into your Internet Explorer Propetties, Security tab, scroll to the bottom and change Authentication...Logon...to "always prompt for user id and password"

2. Login to BPC for Excel, note if the option to "login using my windows id" exists now?. But instead check the option to "logon as a different user"... enter user id and password, and check the "save my password" box there.

From that point forward, (until your password expires), you will be able to login to BPC for excel by just checking the green check box without having to go through the connection wizard every time.

Hope this helps

Greg

This worked when I chose to "Log in with a different user ID and password" and checked the "Remember My Password" box. It's more of a workaround than a real solution, but it will do. Thanks.

Hi,

You have to check also on your application server what type of security you have for Osoft vrtual directory.

You have to open Internet Information Sevices, right click on Osoft virtual directory, select Security Tab and you will find a button to open security settings (you have to have checked Integrated authentification there).

Best regards,

Hi,

I have tried the suggested solutions found on the forum but I am also struggling to solve the same issue

1) 'Integrated Windows authentication' is ticked within IIS Osoft security authentication settings

2) SOX compliance is disabled within Server Manger Client options

3) But both 'Save password' and 'Use my microsoft Windows user id and password' are greyed out in Connection wizard

Background

a) I have restored a production v5 system into a v7.0 test environment and carried out the upgrade steps

b) Both production and test environments have the same settings as above but production does not suffer from the same problem

c) The domains and users in the test environment are not the same as the production environment so I added the new users into the restored app set and assigned the relevant security settings

d) The restored appset is generally working fine in v7.0 in test

Do you think this migration/upgrade has anything to do with the problems I'm having even though my settings are correct?

Any help would be appreciated

I am also unfamiliar with how changing registry settings will help as suggested by another member - would be grateful if someone could explain and provide steps.

Many thanks

Phil
