Performance Enhancements in CR XIR2 and/or CR 2008

I have a client who currently develops reports in CR 8.5 and distributes them in their application using CR XIR1 runtime files. They have complained about performance and besides asking the normal questions about indexes and so forth, I suggested upgrading the reports to the latest or at least a supported version of Crystal Reports design. They countered with the question of whether there is anything specific in the upgrades that would improve performance.

I am sure the answer is yes, but I have not read the readme files in itemized detail. I know the new wired ODBC drivers can improve data connectivity performance, but I was wondering if there was in fact anything I could point to in an upgrade or service pack that would generally improve performance.

Who thinks the client is looking for something specific they can point to in order to justify forcing their customers, who can be entrenched in the current configuration, to upgrade their installations...
