Hi Forum,
i know that already a lot of Posts exists to the topic, but i couldn't find an answer yet...
I use Crystal Reports 2008 and CR Designer 2008.
Is there any posibility to set up an independent database connection / datasource in Crystal Reports 2008?
It seems that Crystal Reports saves the connection string to the database, after deploying it to our customers, they always have to update the Report...
I wondered what the best way could be to keep the report transportable...
thanks a lot for helping out...
greetings Sebastian
Can you use an ODBC connection that is configured on your client's machines to point to their database? As long as the DSN is the same as that used to create the report, I wouldn't expect the report would need updating to run on the client's machine (except maybe for a password)...
HTH,
Carl

Hello Don and Carl,
thanks for fast reply! I will check this out. I know that they can use ODBC as Datasource, because of that i was wondering why it's so complicated for them!
I will also check differences in database-, table- and columnname ... how could i just forget about checking that first!
Thx Sebastian
