Partial Embargo: How can we enable the system to export certain products to an Embargoed country

Hello All,

I have encountered a situation where I need to configure in such a way that system will allow to export specific products ex: Medical products to an Embargoed country, can anyone please help me how can I achieve the same.

Hi Chandan,

One option would be to control this through licensing rather than embargo. Embargo the country via master data. Set up your license to block on the country and ECCN combination for the medical products. When you receive a sales order for this combination, the order will block for embargo and licensing. The user will go through the licensing review and approve the shipment. Then they can manually release the transaction from the embargo. I assume your customer is getting a D# license from BIS for the shipment. If so, then set up IVL license type in GTS with Document # as a check object and this will require the user to manually enter the sales order # so that a proper review can be conducted.

Chandan, few comments:

1. There is a concept of "Partial Embargo" in GTS, but it does not match your requirement
2. Jessica has suggested to use legal control along with embargo to satisfy this requirement. It will work.

You may consider few more things

• How often does it happen?
• Is the organization responsible to embargo documents can take a call to release such documents (with medical products) also?

If it happens less frequently and the organization is the same, you may use only the embargo solution only. The users can check the product in document manually before releasing the embargo. This can give you the compliance level what you want, with minimum complexity of system and little manual overhead. Hope that helps.
