PM PP Integration

Hi experts,

If I assign a PP work center in Main work center field of equipment, as soon as, I assign same equipment in order, the main work center is automatically copied in order work center and main work center fields. In this case if I continue with PP work center and run IW42 then all the cost of PP labor/work center would be debited on order.

a)Now, I am being used PP work center just for checking overload message on work order then I first dispatch the work order to next possible date (by using PP representative)/ confirm on the same date {by using capacity over load message on work order (Detain info and finite scheduling)} and finally I replace PP work center by PM work center inorder to get PM work center cost.

I want to know

Is this best practice?

what is the difference between Detail info and finite scheduling data of capacity overload message on a work order?

b) Consider If I use PP work center Pack0001 and I assign this to a work order, It is found overload on 12.042010, 8:30am to 12042010, 9:30am on a production order, then

How would I get automatic time scheduling start from 12.042010, 9:31am to 12042010, 10:31am on a maintenance activity (in operation tab of work order)? (If I use work as 1 hr)

After dispatching the above order, then I would replace PP work center by PM work center, so

what settings should be made to keep same time scheduling on an order as we did for PP work center?

Regards,

A) Best Practice generally is industry specific, however in your case, i don't think none of them would suggest to assign a PP work center for a maintenance order for initial scheduling. In all cases the work center is would be the executing and or managing work center.

The detail info option would list out the Availability of the work center, the requirements details and the associated overload on a period basis for each and every operation of the order

Finite Scheduling would try to auto schedule the work according to the availability and load.

Both these are dependent on the overall profile associated to Plant / Order type combo in OIOI for Release.

Hi,

I have suggested the PP & PM integration on my client that has production environment, there PP work center is opened as machine and that is assigned on equipment master main work center field, I have checked that we can assign a PP work center on planning level of work order and we can confirm PM activities on IW42 by replacing actual performing PM work center.

Is this a right approach?

The client also want to get same functionality for PM work centers for their PM activities (By using only PM work centers) they want to check and perform capacity leveling

Can you send me the details what settings should be made to get auto time forward based scheduling in view of my last post scenario? The client wants to get hourly based auto scheduling in case of capacity overload.

Thanks

Hi,

Generally PP work centers are not directly assigned on PM work orders. Yes, you can assign the work center to a Order as long as the work center usage allows you to do so. Yes, it will work if you replace the PP work cneter with PM workcenter during confirmation.

Assign SAPSFCG013 to overall profile for Plant / Order type combo in OIOI for Release and Create. Also make sure that "No check" check box is initial and the release order field is set to "1", if you would like to control the Release of the Order when there isnt sufficient capacity. This setting should take care of your needs.

I would strongly suggest you to go through the [Capacity Req Planning in PM|http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/en/82/4db0d59d2f455bb5e6b91a79fd4b34/frameset.htm] and [Detail Capacity Req Planning|http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/en/8a/a5856e4adc11d189740000e8322d00/frameset.htm] to understand the different profiles and their effects before asigning the same.
