Upgrade SAP Kernel from 7.0 to 7.01

Dear All:

Could you please advise how to upgrade from SAP kernel 7.0 to 7.01?

I'm in the process of upgrading our SOLMAN from 7.0 to SOLMAN 7.0 with EHP1. In SAP documentation they said I have to upgrade the kernel to 7.01 before I start the process. I did the followings:

1- Download and extract the latest 7.01 kernel.

2- Take a copy of all kernel folder of all instances.

3- Copy the extracted files with overwrite into the kernel folder but the system did not start and even the windows services.

4- Deleted the original kernel files and copy the new ones but still the system did not start and windows services too.

Windows 2003 32-bit, SQL 2005.

Please advise.

Regards,

Ahmad Yasin

Read SAP Note 684106 - Microsoft runtime DLLs

That should fix your problem

Hi Juan,

Just an update, I resolved the issue as following:

1- I took a copy of the old kernel files (7.00)

2- I deleted the old kernel (7.00) files and replaced it with the new ones (7.01)

3- I copied the folder mssjdbc from old kernel and pasted it into the new kernel

4- I copied the IGS files into the new kernel folder

5- I started the instance and now everything is working fine

May be we have to overwrite the old kernel files only when we are upgrading the kernel from the same release i.e. kernel 7.0-175 to kernel 7.0-236.

Anyway, thanks for your contribution.

Dear Juan:

Thanks for your advice.

I followed the note and now i am able to start windows services but when i tried to start the SAP from MMC the IGS could not started and the Java did not started. It gives J2EE status info unavailable. The work processes are running.

Please advise.
