Hello
It is not possible to change the cost element category. As a workaround create another GL account and create the new cost element with category 12. Transfer all the transactions of the old GL to new GL.

Hi,
Unfortunately it is not possible in the standard transaction KA02 to
change any cost element in case there were already postings made.
....
What I can advise is to change the validity period of the cost element
as of the next fiscal year in KA02 to change the master data in
relation to the cost element type. This should be no problem.
....
In case you need to execute this change for periods where you already
have postings on the cost element, all the previous postings to this
cost element within the fiscal year need to be deleted. In most cases
this is not easily possible - so it mainly depends on how many postings
you have already made to this cost element.
In case you can remove the previous CO-documents you may use note
#175522 by deleting the postings with report ZKACOR21.
....
Furthermore also all planning data must be deleted on the cost element
by entering the transactions previously used (such as KP06 or KP26 for
cost centers). There may also be other objects affected (orders,
WBS-elements).
....
As you can see I can only provide a general information - it mainly
depends on how many postings are affected.

Hi,
It's not possible to change the category after the postings have been made.
