Hi Gurus,
I'll be executing an offline backup later and restore it to another server. I would like to know your expert opinion, what type of offline backup will i execute.
Full database offline + redo log backup OR Full database offline backup only.
TIA

Hi,
You only need Full database offline backup to restore the complete system.
In Online backup you will need redo log backup to restore the complete system.

Hi Rajesh,
You mean i will only execute Full database Offline Backup since SAP is down at the time of the backup. Does this also mean that redo log backups are only used when executing full database online backup? I'm confused because there's an option in DB13 Full database Offline + redo log backup. When do we execute this type?

A consistent Offline backup is sufficient to restore a system
Does this also mean that redo log backups are only used when executing full database online backup?
No, these means that an offline backup is consistent without the redo logs... in the other hand and online backup is only consistent with the redo logs.
When do we execute this type?
Redo logs can be applied to an offline backup to take the system to certain point before a crash... keeping abackup of the redo logs is very important
