other columns in bex along with Calmonth dynamic columns

Hi,

I have a scenario as below where we have different cost heads like work done, escalations which are of different key figures we made in structures and the 0calmonth we have in our columns which is displaying dynamic distribution of data. Now we need 4 more vertical columns TOTAL,PLANNED(TOTAL,TILL DATE,BALANCE) for each of the cost heads. Please suggest how to create columns( TOTAL,PLANNED(TOTAL,TILL DATE,BALANCE) like in below figure.

note : We have the 0calmonth in columns in bex and in rows we have keyfigure structure for the cost heads data to be distributed month wise.

Kindly provide a solution to this.

Hi Manisha,

there is no way to create a query with a mixture of fixed defined columns AND dynamical display of a characterisatic.

You can only have one of these - so i.e. define a number of months to be shown and create a column for each

or show the month also for the plan columns...

Hi Cornelia,

Thanks for your reply.

As per my understanding this should either be done for a fixed number of columns of months else plan columns should have month.

But the data which comes to planned columns has 2 sources one which has the month wise data(only plan) other doesn't have(actual data).

Can you please suggest a way forward to this like any other solution to move forward, as client is particular on this format. One suggestion I got from one of my colleague is that to make 2 queries with month distribution and planned columns differently and make a workbook Is this a good way to move forward or anything else?

Kindly suggest.

Thanks& Regards,

Manisha

Hi Cornelia,

One more thing I would like to add is that the

4 more vertical columns TOTAL,PLANNED(TOTAL,TILL DATE,BALANCE) are the aggregated values to be represented against each of the cost heads (work done, escalation marked in yellow). The cost heads are a key figure structure here as they have different restrictions and from different sources.

Kindly provide your inputs for way forward.

Thanks for your time & help.

Regards,

Manisha

Hello Manisha,

you can not use a workbook within a query only the other way around use queries in workbooks.

I have no idea what you expected from an APD.

Your problem is, that you want to combine fixed column structure with flexible month drilldown - this is just not possible.

you can have a structure OR flexible drilldown.

You can have a structure AND below a characteristic for flexible drilldown, but you will get the drilldown for each structure column (at least where there is data, emtyp columns can be hidden with zero-suppression).

What I usually suggest to my customers is to limit the number of actual columns to a defined number - and these then are created as structure columns within the query.

Hi Manisha,

since your requirement can not be fulfilled by query definition, it might be a solution to have 2 queries and combine them within a workbook.

This depends a bit on the number of rows, becasue when you have to scroll within 2 queries at the same time it might be a bit confusing ...

Hi Cornelia,

There is a situation that came in that we developed this two queries and now we need to use the output of it in a budgeting report.

We tried APD but of no help,it failed.

Is there any other way to use this workbook in other query.

Manisha
