Hi Everyone,
Please can anyone provide me some suggestions for how is solution manager being used to monitor the system?
Like what all we can use early watch reports etc.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Avneesh
Hi,
monitoring requires a good concept and to configure and customize your central Solution Manager and the monitored systems.
You can set up your Solution Manager as a Central monitoring system (CEN) using CCMS technology. A detailed description how to setup central CCMS monitoring you can find in the [Monitoring Setup Guide for SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s) SPS 18 |http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/804129e9-fff0-2b10-e7ad-fc7ed7cf56f8].General information about monitoring you can check [here|].
Activating Central Performance History and BI client in Solution Manager enables you to have powerful reporting. You can create CPH reports or BI based reports (using BEx query designer).
To use the full capabilities provided by Solution Manager you should setup Root Cause Analysis. Check this site to get further information: [http://service.sap.com/diagnostics|http://service.sap.com/diagnostics].
By activating Alert Management you can use capabilities like escalation of alerts, substitutions and time dependent delivery of alerts.
In Solution Manager you can setup the Monitoring in your Solution Landscape. This provides you a graphilcal overview of the monitored systems and their status.
Also you can use Solution Manager Work Centers (check [Work Centers in SAP Solution Manager|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/operations?rid=/webcontent/uuid/a0dc7c37-e5d7-2a10-a783-9c0aea957c20] [original link is broken]😉 after setting up all this mentioned above. There are special WorkCenters for System Monitoring, Root Cause Analysis and System Administration.
Best Regards,
Holger
