Structural authroization question

Hello Experts,

I have a question on structural authorizations...one of my clients uses an external OM tool and some of the end users will login to that system to make OM related changes so they have put in some structural authorizations which will be used by this external system uses to restrict the object types that the users can change from the OM tool. Good so far...

However when the same user logs into SAP directly, which they can for some reason...they need to get access to more employees than their structural authorization will allow. So I am tasked to look for options. I did research some BADIs

HRBAS00_STRUAUTH, HRBAS00_GET_PROFL but I would like to know if this the way to go or can we solve this requirement

using structural authorizations in a different manner? If I do need to use this BADI can I just switch off structural authorizations during the runtime. I can identify when the call comes from external system v/s when its directly from R/3. I fear performance related issues that BADI might cause. Any inputs on this will be appreciated and rewarded.

Cheers
