Hello,
There are times that staff create work order that are simular.
Is there a way or a process to remove duplicate work order.
Do we have to Teco>business close> then provide the delete flag.
or
Is there something more effecient.
Thanks.
There are 3 scenarios possible -
1.If the Order is created and not REL.You can set the status to 'Do not excute'. This will automatically close the Order.
2.If the Order is REL with no costs, in this case you need to do the TECO and COMP. After that set the Deletion flag (DLFL)
3.If Order is REL with costs on it, then you need to reverse the cost on order and then follow step 2.
In addition to above you can temporarily lock the order to avoid postings and when required unlock it.
Hope this helps

Make a list of duplicate orders and ask users to use them again or later use, before creating any new one.

Hi Jay,
As you are not going to do any kind of work in that order as it is duplicate order.
You should use option " Do not execute" and not teco and business completion.

"Do not execute" functionality will not work in case the Order is Released. Instead of doing TECO and Busniess Complete it is better to Lock the Order by using menu "Order -> Function -> Lock -> Lock". Locking the order enables us not to perform any further action or posting related to this order. This is how we have used in many of the scenario where user wish to prevent further use of the order created by them. In future if they find that they need to use the present order then can easily Unlock the order.
We have used the object info user-exit (ICSV0004) to popup a warning message under customer-specific rules.

Jay,
Those are the right steps.
You may want to investigate the use of User exits on SAVE of the order to check for Duplicate orders or Use the Object information display to be pro-active and prevent the creation of duplicate orders in the first place.
