posting key 40 does not permit specification of a special G/L indicator

Hi

I have been trying to enter advance payment to vendor using f-48 it keeps giving me error "

posting key 40 does not permit specification of a special G/L indicator" I have tried everything but couldn't figure out where went wrong.

hoping someone guide me to correct issue.

Not every posting key allows you to post to special GL. Go to tcode OB41 to see which posting keys allows to post to special GL. Generally for down payment we use posting key 29. Please see attached screenshot.

thank you for your time everything is same as you show i found out issue was on obxb some one has set debit as 40 and credit as 39

Hi

Looks like some one messed up OBXB. F-48 derives Posting key from OBXB. Posting key 40 is not for Sub ledger and should not be used. Use 29 or create new - copy from Posting key 29
