Hi Team,
I need to delete HTS codes for the list of Products (Once we delete it Business will classify the products with new HTS codes).
Tried with BDC and it is not working. Can you suggest any other program/BAPI/FM to do this.
Regards,
Hi Gurram,
My 2 cents, ideally you wouldn't delete the classification as mentioned by Dean and Dave as it wipes out the trail of the classification associated with the documents within the system. Here's something you want to check with your business. Are the paper copies or electronic copies of the export paperwork stored outside of SAP somewhere? Or PDF copies stored in SAP? You will need them as a backup if there is an audit of the past shipments for any reason and you delete the classification from the product master.
Now, if you are decided that you want to delete the classification and if you are on GTS 11, there is a transaction called Delete classifications via worklist ( transaction /SAPSLL/PRCL_CUS_DEL) which can be used to remove the tariff numbers. The transaction is not available in the earlier versions and was introduced in GTS 11.0
BTW, you never mentioned the inconsistency error you received if you tried re-classifying the old codes with the new ones.
Good luck!

Hello Gurram,
Again, GTS is a legal regulation system. As far as I know there is not a 'delete' program of this nature. The classifications of the product are based on from/to dates and have an integrated role in the transaction data. I am concerned that the business doesn't understand these topics and the importance of having an audit trail for customs.
I am sorry but I cannot help you here.
Regards, Dean.

Hello Gurram,
You don't delete classifciations due to transactual dependence and audit compliance. I am not sure what version of GTS you are on but the Classify via Worklist should handle all the date validity ranges for you.
If you are back dating the classifications, are you sure this is the correct thing to do? That means that you would have to amend your filings with your customs authorities depending on the variance in the classification.

Hi Dave,
Thank you for your mail.
We normally reclassify the products. But in this case we have two issues.
1. While reclassifying the products with new HTS codes, inconsistency while adjusting the classification period for the old HTS codes. Please help me with any OSS note to correct the bug in the system . ( Tried in SAP portal didn't find any relevant note).
2. Since multiple HTS codes assigned and classification period is overlapped need to delete these HTS codes.
To delete these records we tried with BDC and it is not working. Can you suggest any other program/BAPI/FM to do this
Once the clean up is done we will reclassify with fresh HTS codes.

Hi Gurram,
No need to delete the existing classifications - just re-classify with appropriate start date.

Dave
