OUI 10.2.0.4

Hi people,

I need to install oracle on Windows 2008 server. I´ve read the note 1303262, and I´ve to install directly the OUI 10.2.0.4, then the patch set it´s included,not? Only I´ve to install the patch collection,not?

Hello Ruben,

the following procedure is correct.

1) Install the RDBMS software version 10.2.0.1 with the installer that is mentioned in sapnote #1303262

2) Install the RDBMS patchset 10.2.0.4

3) Install the actual patch collection for 10.2.0.4 that is mentioned in sapnote #1137346

4) Install the generic patch that is mentioned in sapnote #1137346

But in the installation guide of Oracle and notes 1303262, It´s indicate that in the windows server 2008, you´ve to install the OUI 10.2.0.4 directly.

Cannot install 10.2.0.1 and after install the patch set 10.2.0.4.

My doubt is if I´ve to install the patch collection after I´ve installed the OUI version 10.2.0.4.

I guess you are receiving the following error while installing oracle on windows server 2008, right?

"Abnormal program termination. An internal error has occurred. 
Pls provide the following files to
Oracle Support : "Unknown" , "Unknown" , "Unknown".

Sapnote #1303262 is a little bit misleading in this case ... if you receive the error from above please check metalink note #783296.1.

It states exactly the same that i said. Sapnote #1303262 is just a formal change of this metalink note.

just a quick note, Windows 2008 R2 is not supported. that might be the cause for your issues.

of course - the thread opener Ruben already pointed to sapnote #1303262, so i assumed that this pre-condition is known.

My replies and statements are based on Windows 2008 64-bit.

It´s correct it´s for windows 2008 server x64 not R2 version.

Still I don´t make the installation for this reason I want to know if after to install the OUI version 10.2.0.4 after that I´ve to apply the patch collection version 30. I believe that I´ve to apply it.

I think you are mixing up things. Please check metalink note #783296.1 .. it will clarify anything.

Hi Ruben,

You are correct for windows 2008 you cannot load 10.2.0.1 and patch it to 4.

You have to load 10.2.0.4 directly.......

Hi,

As the note makes no reference to patch collections after the 10.2.0.4 installation I would say it would be OK.

Have you seen this note too : 850306
