Portal Certificate Expired with NO VA running!!!

Former Member
0 Kudos

Hi All,

I got one issue about Portal certificate expiration, for which SSO is not working b/w Portal and R3.

As working on Solaris, required to re-generate the Keystore Certificate via Visual Admin, but WHAT!!!

I am not able to run it, it says that JAVA_HOME needs to be set.

Done (Set) but still am not able to see that VA screen. Tried thru root and SIDADM (recommended) also, but couldnt... which is turning my head 360 degrees.

Well request you all to share your good experiences thru which i may be able to resolve the issue which is pending past 2 days and no proceedings since...

And i guess there is no way out to increase the validity of certificate without VA. OR is there any????

Thanks

Piyush

Hi Piyush,

4/7/10 12:09 PM com.sap.engine.tools.launcher.Launcher Error : console output st ream will not be logged into a file; there was an error opening the log file
java.io.FileNotFoundException: /usr/sap/EPD/JC01/j2ee/admin/log/console_logs/out
put.log (Permission denied)

For above error do the following steps.

1. Login to OS with EPADM user.

2. goto directory /usr/sap/JC01/j2ee/admin/

3. run command ls -ltr ( you will see there is a folder called log.

now run the following command.( beaware you are at folder location /usr/sap/Jc01/j2ee/admin/

for confirming this run command pwd

after confirming the directory location run the following command.

chown -R epdadm:sapsys log

chmod -R 775 log

After running the above start the visual admin ( Visual admin should be start with epdadm user and not by root user )

Thanks

Login to Os with root user and do the following activity.

1. login to Os with root user

2. goto directory /usr/sap/EPD/JC01/j2ee/admin/

3. confirm the location using command PWD , output should be the above location.

4. change the permission as below

chown -R epdadm:sapsys log

Hi ,

Can you tell us which tool you are using to login to OS and calling Visual admin.

for e.g Xmanager , Putty ......

Thanks

Hi,

Please note that you need to use putty or vncviewer to open the VA GUI.

If you try to run go.sh directly it will never open in Unix/Linux OS.

Hi Anil,

We are using X manager to use the same.

@ chayapathy: We are on Solaris.

Pl guide further. Thanks

Hi,

Run the following command.

echo $DISPLAY

check what is a output of command , If it is blank. Then do the following.

run command.

bash
export DISPLAY=<ip of server >:0.0
echo $DISPLAY ( output should be :- <ip of server >:0.0 )

now try to call visual admin.

Thanks

Hi,

As you told, did it and got the same output as you mentioned. However after calling the VA by ./go I am still getting the same error as mentioned earlier.

What next...?

Hi,

try this ....

Login to Xmanager with epdadm and not with anyother user.

run the following command :-

bash
export DISPLAY=<ip address of desktop on which you call xmanager>:0.0

try to call visual admin..

if still same error , then try to access the server using PUTTY rather than XMANAGER.

Call server using PUTTY ( login with user epdadm )

run the following command

bash
export DISPLAY=<ip address of desktop on which putty is running>:0.0

try to call visual admin.

Thanks

Hi,

Can you tell us how you are accessing the server through Xmanager.

for e.g

Your starting xmanager , then you use user root to login after that you su - epdadm .....

or you start xmanager directly with user epdadm

Thanks

Sorry to All for replying late as i was not in touch of network. I got resolved the issue by logging from SIDADM user, but still wonder why it was not letting in from root user id and then switching to SIDADM.

If any body can throw some light on the same, it would be much appreciable as comm members will get to know further about the same issue.

Many Thanks to the All Repliers.
