Activate batch management while stock exist

Dear all,

our requirement is to activate batch management for already existing materials (also various types of stocks is already being used). I know, that the prerequisites for activating batch management are, that the stock levels (in our case plant and project stocks) are 0 (for the actual period and also for the previous period).

But in our case, it would be ___VERY___ difficult to reach these prerequisites, as we also have WM active. Furthermore we have to do this for a lot of materials and this not only now, but also in the future.

So I'm wondering, if there would be an automatic functionality to temporarily clear the stocks in the actual and previous period, activate batch management, create the batches and re-post the stock levels that have been cleared in the first step. I'm wondering because I think, that this is a quite common requirement, maybe someone (or even SAP?) has developed something, that would help me in my situation...

Does anyone have a hint for that?

Thanks in advance,
