Upgrade Portal 7.0 to EhP1 implementation ESS, MSS, EREC, LSO, TMS...

Hi Experts,

We are implementing HCM EhP4 with NetWeaver EP 7 - ESS, MSS, E-Rec, LSO, Talent Management and I would like to upgrade to Portal EhP1 7.01. Now, I got some questions about the components/BPs/functionality that we are implementig right now.

1. Is EhP1 EP 7.01 fully integrated with components and Business Packages of ESS, MSS, EREC, LSO and TMS (EP 7) ??

2. Will I get any functionality problems for those components and PB's on EP 7.01 ??

3. How can I upgrade my EP 7 to EhP1??

4. Will it be as easy as downlad the components of EP 7.01 and deploy it with the SDM in my EP 7 ?? Do I need to install from scratch?

5. Is the same Java version for Portal 7 and Portal 7.01 ??

6. Is NWDI fully integrated with Portal EhP1 and I only need to download the components and deploy (+ NWDI configuration) ??

From your point of view, what are other considetations I may have to take a look before upgrading EP 7 to EP 7.01 ??

Regards

David Corté

    HI,

wrt #1: BP's is not fully integrated. You may need to install/upgrade the BP's component as well either together with EHPi or separate using JSPM

wrt #2: BP's will be the same as 7.00 with extra functionality based on what area you are using.

wrt #3: Yes of course. The recommended way to use EHP installer with is described in SMP. The approach will be the same as JSPM as this installer will call JSPM functionality. The interesting about the installer is you will not faced an issue about which component should going first or later. It will check your SW component dependency.

wrt # 4: It would be the same approach to download the SW from SMP. You may use SP stack link in SMP. YOu may deploy using SDM but SAP recommend to use EHP installler (EHPi) because the it not just the upgrade/deploy. So EHPi will take care the upgrade for you.

wrt #5: Yes. Java version remain the same. You may want to patch it to the SAP latest supported JDK. Refer SAP Note 716604

wrt #6: NWDI is not fully integrated. You may need to install/upgrade the NWDI component as well either together with EHPi or separate using JSPM

    Hope this could help you

    Good luck on your upgrade.

    Thanks

    Regards,

    Hi David,

There will not be big challenge of upgrading the system from 7.0 to 7.01.

Using JSPM you can doing your all this task in EP.

But, It is very important while upgrading the ESS and MSS patches of Portal.

As ESS amd MSS has lot dependencies on backend system.

So you have to study various SAP notes before moving you system from 7.0 to 7.01.

    Thanks

    Anil
