ESS W4 iView Personalization

Hello,

I am planning to replace the ITS W4 iVIew with the WebDynpro iView. However, we only want to give Display access to this iView. From personalization I could remove the Edits on the screen, however the issue I am running into is, the link between IT210 and IT6 ST1. Whenever the state changes on permananet address, it allows the employee to create a new IT210 record for that state on W4 screen. Is there a way this link may be removed only for Portal purposes? Otherwise, I know I have to make the Create button invisible for all possible states. What would be the best way to achieve this?

Also, for Data Sharing inconsistencies, I know we run the RPUFIXDS report, but what is the solution for on-going basis? Do you schedule this report, or is there a permananet solution such that any master data change or new hire should take care of the GRPVL field automatically?

Thanks,

Nakul

You need to schedule the report RPUFIXDS for ongoing basis.

Vijay,

Thanks for the answer. The other thing I found when testing was, if we do not use CE, we dont really need this Infotype Grouping. In table: v_T582G, if we blank out the Grouping Reason value for the Infotypes, ESS does not check for a value in the GRPVL field. I know this means that we are disabling Data Sharing, but do we really even need it, when we dont have CE in place? Does it affect Assignmnets (Refernce PERNR)?

Does anyone know if it is O.K to do this and it wont cause any problems?

Thanks,

Nakul

No you don't!

The system should be set up so that all new infotype records are created correctly.

In my experience the only time this does not happen is if:

1) the feature IVWID has not been set up properly

2) there is an ALE feed of the inconsistent data into the system from a external system (possibly pre ECC or ECC but badly configured - see point 1)

Both of these issues can and should be fixed.

If you are getting these error regularly you need to check your configuration - scheduling the program is not a solution!

Hope this helps,

Chris

Hi Nakul,

I would not remove all data groupings from your system.

They are used to decide which country logic to use to process your infotypes.

If you remove all the groupings then you may find that some specific piece of logic is not being called when you need it to be.

As going forward the class based framework for infotype processing is used more and more, this will become a real problem

Instead try to look for the reason that you are having these infotypes created without a grouping value.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Chris
