Crystal Reports 2008 - no tables appear under the Links tab. Help wtd.

I recently upgraded from Crystal Reports v8 to Crystal Reports 2008 (v.12.2.5.537). I'm running Windows 7 o/s.

On any report I open in Crystal 2008, when I go to the Database menu - Database Expert - Links tab, no tables or links appear. I'm unable to do any linking whatsoever because the tables don't appear.

If I open a report on Crystal Reports 2008 under Windows XP the tables/links appear.

This happens on every report that I open within Crystal 2008 on Windows 7. I never had any problems with Crystal Reports v8 on the Windows 7 computer before upgrading.

I've got to use Crystal 2008 as the old v8 that I use won't open any reports on some new business software we've recently started using. I'm the report designer for the company so it's obviously crucial that I'm able to see and link tables.

Any help on this would be much appreciated!

If this is a new Windows 7 computer, have you created ODBC drivers for your data sources?

And/Or if you are not using ODBC then do you have the database client installed? Assuming you are using a SQL type database and not a PC database.

    Thank you

Yes I've got the link to the SQL database all set up in ODBC. Reports do generate - it's just I cant verify the links as they don't appear.

    Hi,

i got the same Problem. I use Windows 7 with Crystal 12.2.0.290 and i want to access to an Oracle 10g Table using the "OLE DB ADO" Driver. I can access to the Database, i can see and open the schemas, but i don't see the Tables. Any Ideas?

    Thanks a lot !

      Ha !! i got it.

I previously used Crystal to connect to SAP ERP Tables. And Crystal can only show (i think) 1000 Tables but my ERP has more Tables. So i entered a Filter in

File --> Options --> Database --> "Table Name like"

to find the table i needed. This was a global setting which is not only used for a current connection but for every connection.

Now i use Crystal for an Oracle access and this Filter was still active and no table was matching to this filter. I deleted the filter and bingo: All tables appear !!

      Regards

      Sebastian

    That didn't work for me.

This is clearly a Windows 7 compatibility issue.

I've since verified this by installing Crystal 2008 on 4 separate Windows 7 computers - the tables don't appear on any of the Windows 7 computers.

I then installed Crystal 2008 on 4 Windows XP computers and the tables appear as expected.

I'm surprised at the suggestion that you have to pay to open a case with support to get them to look at this.

I have the same problem, and as you say it is a problem of windows 7 because windows XP works perfectly. I have tested with versions 2008 and XI crystal, and nothing, in any case with Windows 7 appear to me to link tables. You found some solution to this problem?

Was this issue ever solved? I have the same exact issue with only one person out of about 500. My recommendation has been to replace/rebuild her hard drive to see if that will fix the issue. We have reinstalled Crystal twice with no change. My next asuggestion will be to replace the whole PC. BUT, if someone found a reason for this issue and a fix I would like to know.

    Thank you
