Possibility of new Crystal Engine based on .net Version later than 2.0?

I have a question concerning the fact that Crystal 2008 .net API is currently based on the .net 2.0 framework. We recently came across issues pertaining to printing to MICR/signature printers when using the Crystal 2008 .net framework. We were able to resolve the issue for most of our customers however a few of them are still unable to print successfully. The weird thing is that

1) They are experiencing different results depending on the printer driver they use (universal vs. model specific)

2) They are experiencing different results depending on the font that they use.

Based on that, we know that the problem is at least partly related to the printer drivers and the 3rd party font providers. However, the interesting thing is that in all cases, these customers were able to print perfectly alright through the Crystal Report Designer (bypassing .net).

I have come across information from other posts suggesting that support for printers using device font substitution was improved in .net 3.0. So I was wondering, are there any plans for the Crystal 2008 .net API to utilize a later .net version rather than 2.0 framework?

BTW, we are an OEM consumer of Crystal Reports (Oracle/PeopleSoft), and we provide this OEM solution to our customers.

Thanks very much

Andrew
