Hi,

I am just trying to find this information - and not heading to do a heterogeneous system copy right away.

I have done homogeneous system copy. I want to know where in SAPINST can I make a difference if the OS or Db is different. I cannot see an option to choose a different db or different OS while doing the export in SAPINST. Can some one point me to where I can find this option please?

Dear Jim,

In SAPINST when you choose Hetrogeneous system copy then it will as you about the target DB and OS in next step.

You will not have any option while starting the export.

For starting the export just follow the path you did for homogeneous and during the next step just select hetrogeneous system copy.

Best of Luck

Thanks.. my question is - where is the "heterogeneous copy" option?

I am in SAPINST> In the menu it is as below

SAP Netweaver 2004s R2 > Additional S/w Life cycle tasks > system copy > MS SQL > Source system > distributed > based on AS ABAP / JAVA > Export !! Now, where is the option for heterogeneous copy?

When I run the export, it does not ask me whether to do a heterogeneous copy.. pls help!

Hi Jim,

You will not find a menu for Heterogeneous system copy.......

Go to the usual place to Export your system.

When entering the parameters for exporting it will ask what your target DB will be and also the Endian you are going too.

See note : 552464 about endian's and also look at the instguides on SAPNet for guides for Hetrogeneous system copies.

Please also bare in mind that if at some point you are going to do this to a production system you will need

a SAP certified OS / DB migration consultant or they will not support it.

Regards

Mark
