2 questions about COMPOSITON (value assignment)

Dear Experts,

I hope that I won't bother you with sending questions out everyday.

I'm working with Stardard Compositon now. I composed several REAL_SUBs to one REAL_SUB as components. Each REAL_SUB here is linked to a UN number via referencing a DG_CL_SUB. The main REAL_SUB is assigned to a material, for example material 0001.

Here are the 2 questions:

1. Where can I find a table or graph in SAP to display the link of material 0001 and the directly or indirectly connected UN numbers?

Or it need to be done by programming?

2. I need to add some blanks for free edited text in the COMPOSITION tab page. I searched in components settings in IMG. It seems that there is no a dimension for text editing. How can I carry it out?

Thanks in advance!

Li

Hello Li

regarding your questions there exists more than one answer. Here are some answers:

Regarding:

1. Where can I find a table or graph in SAP to display the link of material 0001 and the directly or indirectly connected UN numbers?

Or it need to be done by programming?

My first answer would be: if you use the DG submodule of EH&S the DG master is created using the data from PS. Therefore there you can get an "easy link" between material number an UN Number. Therefore using the Standard transaction DGR1 (refer e.g. to this link http://www.easymarketplace.de/transactions-a-e.php) you could do the job

There is a "small" but... You can use a number of material numbers to do the reseacrh (you should reduce the output to one regulation) to do the research but in my opinion the result is not "nice" (readable etc.) but may be this is sufficient.

Second anwer could be: yes: you need to do a little bit "programming" in using and preparing an output variant (no SAP standard output variant available) giving you the answer to your question.

The use of a output varinat is the standard in SAP EH&S to get something shown on the screen (and may be by using an ALV you can download that into EXCEL) which can not be shown by SAP EH&S standard.

Regarding your second question: i am sorry I can not "catch" what you are looking for.

2. I need to add some blanks for free edited text in the COMPOSITION tab page. I searched in components settings in IMG. It seems that there is no a dimension for text editing. How can I carry it out?

Here is my guess what you are looking for:

a.) any property in EH&S does have the same structure. There is a usage, a source etc. By using IMG you define the property as "composition" or as "Spec listing" if needed.

As you need a composition you need a component type (further customizing) etc. to generate on line in the composition. Furtheremore you need some UOM ( like % or weight % etc.)

Now if we are not talking about the so called "user defined texts" but you would like generate one line not linked to a specification there is to my knowlegde a rarely used feature inside EH&S. This can be used e.g. to generate a line like "impurity < 1 %"

You could use the so called "exception value". This is customizing and therefore can not used for "daily work" (you need to know beforehand which exceptionvaslues are needed). May be take a look here: http://help.sap.com/SAPHELP_CRM50/helpdata/EN/5e/948ad7d348d4119b540060b0671acc/content.htm

To my knowledge you can enter component type and exception value without entering a spec key together with lower limits upper limits etc.

Hope that helps.

With best regards

Hi Christoph,

In my first question, the UN numbers which I mean are the UN numbers of the sub-substances(components) which I composed in Standard Compositon. Those UN numbers are related to the material which is assigned to the main substance. I want to see the relationship between those UN numbers of sub-substances and the material in one table.

In DGR1, we can still only see the relationship between the UN number of the main substance and the material.

If my description is not clear, please tell me.

Thanks,

Li

Hello Li

interesting request. I have nether thought about to use Standard composition to get an overview of the UN Numbers.

In any case:

There is a standard output variant available by SAP EH&S which is called:

COMPONENT which is a good starting point.

If you take a look in customizing you will find an identification listing which belongs to this output variant. Personally I would recommend to make a copy of the standard output variant and to use a customer specific because this outputvariant does not fulfill all of your requirements completely.

The use of this output variant is "simple". You need to create a hit list and you must mark one or more specification keys. Now by using this outputvariant you get a "tree" of components (based on the composition (property which you can select) giving you exactly two identifiers per component back to the screen (no more sorry). This tree can be used to get an overview to check which components are there and which subcomponents etc. and you can combine them (take a look here: http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/en/c1/eda0f591ec12408b25e7a1b369ca45/frameset.htm

Topic "Displaying Compositions and Ingredients" in chapter Specification Information System (EHS-BD-SIS).

In any case: If you would like to get really what you are requesting for: you must prepare your own output variant, because by standard the "COMPOSITION" is showning only the spec key of REAL_SUB and any component subcomponent etc. but no information regrading material which is linked to the specification (and normally you have a n material to 1 spec relation).

May be this helps
