Hi All,
Can anyone confirm whether there is any limitation on the number of objects(Dimensions) that can be used in Webi reports while using SAP BW universe(based on BEx Query) as source. We are getting an error when we try to increase the number of dimensions to more than 50 in a report. Has anyone faced this issue earlier. If anybody has some workaround or any solution please provide us.
Thanks and Regards,
Pankaj Goswami

Hi friends, Thanks for your response. This is a shortcoming of SAP BW Olap universe where we cannot use more than 50 distinct Dimensions (If we are using any detail then the corresponding dimension will also be selected).

Hi Ingo,
We are using less than 50 objects in rows and in free characteristics, but the number of objects used in the report are more than 50 which causes this error.
Are you sure that we can use more than 50 objects in Web Intelligence report in such a way that the individual count should not exceed for 50 objects for rows and free charachteristics. I have tried this but still getting the error.
Thanks,

Hi,
if you use 50 characteristics in the Web Intelligence Query Panel you are basically asking for the data for all 50 characteristics. I would assume you are running out of memory.
try to build a query with all the elements you are using in Web INtelligence in the rows of the BW Query and try to execute the BW query in transaction RSRT.

Hi Ingo,
We are using some 30 rows and 20 free characteristics and the error which we are getting is not related to Memory. We are getting the following error
"(failed to execute with the error Invalid MDX command with UNSUPPORTED: > 50 CHARACT.. (WIS 10901).
If we reduce the number of objects to 49 then it's running fine.
Let me know if you feel that it can be solved by some other approach.
Thanks ,
Pankaj
Hi,
I assume you refer to the limit in the BW query itself where you trying to add more than 50 items in the rows ? If so you can have more items in the free characteristics.
remember that Web Intelligence does not have a concept of "Free Characteristics" when you build a query in the Web Intelligence query panel. All elements in the query panel will be used for data retrieval.

Hi
depending on the version and patch level of your SAP BW back-end system there is a limitation of 1000000 cells regarding the results that can be retrieve over the MDX interface.
What version of BOBJ (incl. SP and FP) do you have? Which is the version and patch level of your SAP BW system? What exactly is the error message you get?

Stratos
