EVDRE - Noexpand in memberset

Former Member

Hi

While building an evdre report with static dimensions in the columns (measures, category and time) and choosing 'noexpand' in the membersets, the data does not refresh. Do I miss any settings that are needed?

I was referencing to a list of members for each dimension, but then the report does combine every dimension member which is just returning way too many columns.

Thanks for your help.

Melanie

Hi Mélanie,

If I were you, having static columns on your report, I would avoid the use of "NoExpand" in the Memberset value.

I would recommend to update your EVDRE function to only use the ROW expansion (in the third parameter of the function called "Expand Range"), and update the ColKeyRange according to your report layout.

This should solve the problem.

Hope this help.

Kind Regards,

Patrick

Thanks Patrick

This did the trick. I have not used many evdre reports before.

Could you tell me when noexpand is useful? And does it work at all?

Regards

Melanie

Hi again Mélanie,

Nice to see you solved this issue.

To be honest, I know that "NoExpand" sometimes don't work correctly, depending on the report layout (multiple columns and/or rows).

But from my experience, I can only recommend you to use the way I've described above. You won't face any issue using this process.

Hope this will help.

Kind Regards,

Patrick

Hey Melanie,

I don't use the 'NoExpand' option anymore. I do this in the same way as Patrick described. Select your EvDRE()-Field, usually A1, and press F2. Now you should see a colored border around your expansion range. You can exclude rows and columns from the expansion by scaling down the colored border.

This should help you with your problem.
