Use of Consume Forecast in general settings

What is use of Consume Forecast and consumption method (planing) in Inventory Tab of the general Settings.

If the MRP see a requirement of a SO, it looks for forecasts if they can be decreased according to this SOu2019s requirement. It looks for it from the date of the SO first backward or forward according to the setting.

And if looks for the forecast in the given day in the appropriate direction.

The Consume Forecast in the general settings is the default setting for the sales order row Consume Forecast column.

If an MRP run considers the sales orders, you can control with this assuming the requirement of this order additional to the forecast for this item. (It is an additional requirement if you select NO in this column.)
