recurring report question -make old recurring instance point to new report?

Letu2019s say I created a recurring report for Template XYZ yesterday named JM-TestRecurringReport.

The recurring report instance has been moved so that history is not lost if the original template was ever deleted.

Today, a new version of Template XYZ is released. Is there a way to make the previous instance point to the new template using the SDK? Without having to internally copy over parameters and scheduling info from the old into the new template and then reschedule is as recurring.
