Financial and Capacity Planning - Sponsor Field

Hi,

We have a question related to sponsor field in the capacity and financial planning I am not sure if an expert could help me to answer it.

There is a field sponsor linked to each financial and capacity group. We have seen a Consulting solution (SAP note 1260432) which uses this field ( here you fillled this with a Bucket sponsor and then financial and planning information ant item level is rolled up to the bucket and to the bucket sponsor). But this field is available in the standard RPM , then what is the utility of this field in the standard?
