Activate Technical Content in SAP NetWeaver BI

Do you know what exactly the Activate Technical Content in SAP NetWeaver BI for?

SPRO ->SAP NetWeaver ->Business Intelligence ->Settings for BI Content ->Business Intelligence ->BI Admin Cockpit ->Activate Technical Content in SAP NetWeaver BI

What happen if I activate it?

Basically I would like enable the system so that the Query / InfoProvider statistic data can be collected, and therefore, I can see this statistic data via ST03N.

Does it mean I MUST activate the Activate Technical Content in SAP NetWeaver BI, then I will be able to see the statistic data in ST03N?
