Crystal Reports XI R2 does not retain activation code

I have been using version Crystal Reports XI R2 version for several years. About 2 months ago I installed your current version for evaluation. Near the end of the trial period I remove the trial version. But.. after removal of the trial my XI R2 version keeps requesting my CD code again and again for each use at launch. The CD key code activates my version but does not remember it and continues to request again the next day. I have uninstalled the XI R2 version and reinstalled but something seems to be changed from the trial that is preventing it from retaining the activation. Any suggestions?

If you know how to use Registry Editor, then navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\BusinessObjects\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\Keycodes\CR Dev (on 64 bit OS)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\BusinessObjects\Suite 11.5\Crystal Reports\Keycodes\CR Dev (on 64 bit OS) (on 32 bit OS)

(Note: above key is for Developers Edition. For Professional Edition it would be "CR Pro")

and see if your valid keycode is captured in the registry key.

This is the only reason I see why it prompts to enter the keycode everytime - if it is not getting captured in the registry.

My guess your CR XIR2 application does not have rights to write to registry. When you reinstall application the best practice is to use "right-click and run as Administrator" on setup.exe.
