LTP - Opening stock

Dear Gurus,

in LTP planning scenario, we can choose from 3 methods to calc. opening stock,

i choosed (Average plant stock from material master record)

and from MS29 - Average stock for LTP, system calculate the stock qty,

but i need to know how system cacluate this average stock,

is it based on material consumption or other way???
