Deleting class assignment in material

Hi Experts,

I want to delete the class assignment for a material and assign a different class.

But I am getting the below error when I am attempting to delete the assignment in CL20N (in MM02 as well)

Assignment Mat X Class name 1 cannot be deleted

Message no. CL551

Diagnosis

Material Mat X is a component in a BOM. In the item data of

this BOM component, you have entered the class type which is used to

classify the material.

You can enter the class type of a BOM component if you want to use the

classification data of a material as a selection condition in variant

configuration.

Please throw your inputs on how to change the assignment.

Regards,

Partha

Hi Partha MM,

I´m getting the same system message and the material is not assigned to any BOM. Did you solve this situation?

Thanks for the advise!

Hello Partha,

This is an usual check whenever you are trying to modify an object which has a dependent object.. Like changing the Uint of measure of product has certain pre-checks, like there should be no open orders..no stocks etc..

Likewise while changing the classification system tells that it is being used in a Bill of material (where, there is a possibility that the classification data might be used in creating object dependencies, variants etc).

So, you need to delete this material from all the BOMs where it is used as an item. To find this, you may use transaction CS15.

And delete this item from the BOM and change the class. And then add this item with the correct quantity to the BOMs,form where they were deleted previously.

Thanks,

Mahesh
