Is there a way to use variant configuration in make to stock scenario. Our client dispatches materials from its stockyards which are produced in the plant according to the pre-specified characteristics ( About 50). These stocks need to be tracked as per these characteristics. When the customer places the order he can choose the characteristics and the stock checking has to be done according to these characteristics. How can this be done?
Hi ,
For Configurable Material(KMAT)----
> should concern with Strategy Group
In Configurable Material in MRP3 View -
> in Planning you can try with strategy group as
10--Make to stock Production
11-Make to stock prodction/Gross requirements planning
This will help you.

You can create characteristics with all possible value and assign to material.
While sales order creation allow user to choose values for each characteristics.
For tracking purpose you can generate Z report for characteristic values in sales order.
you can use FM VC_I_GET_CONFIGURATION.
