Quality notification, External number range?

Is it possible in base SAP to have an external number range that includes a "-"

We're trying to match the Notification number to be the same as our change order number. the change order number system is usually a 2 digit year prefix, a dash and a 4 digit suffix. i.e. 10-0001, 10-0002, etc.

Is this a valid option in an ECC 6.0 environment?
