Hello,
In the EWA report, the Used space of our database has reduced as compared to last month.
But the total size of the DB has increased.
I am not sure how this could have happened?
All we did over this past month is delete mails from SOST. But that should not affect the database.
Could someone please explain?
used space within PSAPUNDO was different during data capture jobs were
running.

Hi,
It is possible to reduce the data in a productive system.
Last month our R/3 4.7 production system had 60 GB of negative data growth for used data.
The explanation was :
monthly archiving deleted 40 GB of data.
an index reorganization project deleted 65 GB of data (recreated indexes are more efficient but also much smaller)
The users created 45 GB od data.
45 - 40 - 65 = -60 GG !

Olivier

@Bhavik,
It may be due to the normal behavior of the Table space with "Auto Extend" mode.
But this should not affect "Used space"
@Olivier,
There was not reorganization or monthly archiving. Like I mentioned, just the cleanup of old mails (SOST mails).
By monthly archiving you mean using Tcode SARA?
Is there anything else that I am missing?
Hi,
Share your Space Statistic which is shown in EWA report. Did you compare that space figures with the DB02 - Space summary ?
Calculate your existing DB size by subtracting the Free Available Space from the Total Allocated Space.
It may be due to the normal behavior of the Table space with "Auto Extend" mode.
Are you adding Data files manually ?
