Hello all,
We are installing a new printer which will be used by the Finance staff. The printer is one of the new MFD devices from Konica Minolta. It has a number of different trays available and one of those will be used for the cheque printing on the existing prenumbered forms. We also want to be able to do 'normal' printing to this printer, obviously from a different tray.
We want to control which tray is used for printing by users and also restrict printing to that specific tray to only certain staff.
My thinking is to have 2 different printer definitions in SPAD for the same printer - one for the cheque printing and the other for 'normal' printing. Then we can use authorisations to control access to the cheque printer only by certain people, and everyone else can use the other definition for other printing.
Is this a workable option? Can anyone see if users might be able to find a way around this and get access to the cheque printer because the same printer is being used by other people for other types of printing? And is it possible to restrict access to specific trays for specific users?
Thanks for any assistance.
Cheers...John
Hi,
it is a workable solution. You can restrict access to spool device using authorization obejct S_SPO_DEV.
Cheers
