SAP EAM lack a metrology platform for the calibration of lab and process instrumentation.

I have seen that many manufacturing companies are not using SAP EAM for their labs and process calibration programs. Where measurement values are compared with those of a calibration standard, and the "as found" are recorded, and the after calibration is performed then the "as left" are also recorded all of this following a given calibration frequency, and as found and as left reading should be within an applicable tolerance. Now, as far as any of you know, does SAP have at least basic metrology functions that can be used to track calibration performance?

For example:

I might have a pressure transmitter with a range of 0-200 PSI, and need to check the deviation at 3 point in the range. Let say the nominal points are 50, 100 and 150 with a tolerance of +/- 5% of the reading.

In this case, I would have the 'As Found" readings and after calibration if needed, then I will have the "As Left" readings.

This would require PM/QM integration using inspection lots and inspection results.

I understand what you mean and it's not very straightforward in SAP. But with some workaround this can be achieved. You need to create MIC's as below

1. Nom. Pt. Reading at 50 Specification( 0-200 PSI) Result=50

2. Reading as found at 50 Specification( 0-200 PSI) Result=46

3. As found deviation at 50 Specification( +/- 5%) Result= (50-46/50)*100

MIC number 3 will be calculative MIC. In the same way create MIC's for reading at 100 & 150.

Could you shed more light on how to create a MIC. I haven't heard of MIC, is this a Tcode. Or do I need a custom made template?.

MIC creation is part of QM module, please check with your QM consultant on the same.
