Cost center grayed out and cannot set it as an editable field.

We do not have the cost center derived from org structure/position and therefore need to enter a cost center at the time of employee creation. This is because we are loading data from an external system.

We have looked at the screen exit info and even if we set to standard (version 40b) the field stays as gray and is uneditable.

Does anyone know of a way around this issue. Someone mention that we may be able to default a value to this field, and then later amend it, as an option.

Are there any other options that anyone may know of?.

Maybe someone knows of a FM that I can use to change this field afterwards, if that's allowed when the field is grayed out.

if the switch PLOGI ORGA is Active you will find it as non editable Mode deactive it and find in table V_T77S0

other wise the other way is to maintian the cost center in IT0027

Yes, we looked at switching the intergration off, but we were not sure of the knock-on effect to existing payroll data. Using Infotype 27 is also a tad awkward as well. I know that it was created to overerite the cost centre, but I'm being told that it's more complicated than that.

I've now resolved to creating an employee via BDC, and then running a later job to populate just that one field via a BAPI/FM of some sort. The FM's that I have found for this purpose (rememeber that I'm using version 4.0b) are HR_INFOTYPE_GETDETAIL to retrieve the current infotype 0001 details, and then HR_INFOTYPE_OPERATION to update the cost centre. However, I'm being told that the subtype, which is the second FM Parameter, should be empty for this infotype, but it's difficult to find an example of both of these FM's being used because they are normally called from other other BAPI's which of course have their parameters supplied, and none of the example are updaing infotype 0001.
