I wanna store Original Application Files in other server (not in SAP system). How to do it ? What should I do to prepare about the hardware for external server. Where is Tcode to define storage location for DMS ?
Hi,
generally you have to install a Content Server and then create content repositories and storage categories for this Content Server. The most important transactions are CSADMIN (setup content server), OAC0 (maintain content repository) and OACT (maintain storage category).
Further for DMS customizing it is important to set the flag 'Use KPRO' for the document types in transaction DC10.

Hi Christoph
Thanks for your helping. I'll try it. But why is Knowledge Provider (KPRO) important ? What happens when I don't check KPRO for Storage Category ?
And I have another question: I added Tcode CV01N in Menu tab of TCode PFCG, Then I saw notification in Authorization tab. It has two field "Controlling Area" and "Profit Center".I can cancel and go on. But why does it appears ? By the way with addition Tcode CV02N, I don't see that notification.

Hi again,
the setting of the 'Use KPRO' flag is important because otherwise the original files can only be stored in the older storage types like archive, vault or SAP-SYSTEM. From DMS point of view I would recommend you to use the KPRO storage because this
offers a lot more functions.
Regarding the mentioned notification I have to say that I cannot simulate this issue by testing in my internal systems. Maybe someone else in this forum knows about this notification.
Best regards,
Christoph
Hi,
As Chirstoph mentioned it is recommended to use the KPRO for DMS. On the other hand in response to your original posting it is possible to store the documents in places other than Content servers, for example you could store them in documentum, Live link repositories etc.
How to Do it: You can make the relevant settings in the Data carrier and define if the system is to use SAP DMS, or any other external DMS systems.
Hope this helps
Regards
C
