Business area not ready for input

Hi friends. we are dismantling an equipment from one Functional location and then installing it to other but while saving the system shows an error message "Business are field is not ready for input".We are ding this with IE02.

e.g: we have to move equipment from one project to other like :

Plant 1= 460a , Business area =2460

Plant2 = 470a , Business area =2470.

Also for some equipments it is allowing to do so.

plz help

hi Pete, I have noticed one more thing related this.Actually after the conversiion of equipment to Asset , we are not able to change the business area in the IE02.

Actually what we were doing that in asset master the business area is our Head office(1475) always. and in the IE02 we use to mention the business area of the project for which the equipment is in use. and when we were moving equipment from one project to another and the business area in the equipment master changes then system gives the error.

While creating the PM order, system pick the business area from the equipment master automatically.But we are able to edit that in order.

1)Should we manually enter the business area while creating the PM orders ?

2)should we not enter any business area in Equipment master as it is not mandatory in our case.and then manually enter it during the order.

So that the in asset the business area =1475(as required) and the cost from the PM order will go
 to the business area for which the equipment is working, as user is entering it manualy.

We want all the assets with Head office and want run depriciation to be run with its business area.

what you suggest.

Hi achal,

As equipment is moving from one project to another and business area is changing. This implies that business area in asset master also should change. Once you change that in asset master you problem will be solved.

Now you want run depriciation from head office. You can do that as assent number remains same. There is no problem if you change business are in asset master as in actual also asset is moving and its business area is changing.

This is how it should be.

As business area is not mandatory in maintenance order. i would suggest you to keep that field blank in equipment and then enter in maintenance order.

hi tejas thnx for your valuable answer and time.dear we are now using the same procedure to enter the business area manualy in all PM orders.

But as you suggested to change the business area in asset, we are not able to do so.As this field get locked automatically.

That is why now we are not entering the business area in equipment master and enter it during the creation of PM orders.....while in the asset it remains the same that is our head office.
