Cannot create Confirmation as follow up to Service order

I am using CRM 7.0 (Web UI) accessing it through Portal. The business role does not have authorizations to edit service orders, only display. When trying to create a confirmation from the service order, a warning message "Service Process xxx cannot be confirmed due to a lock" appears and I am unable to move forward - no confirmation is created.

I have confirmed that the service order is in the appropriate released status and does not have a distribution lock. Additionally, when we provide edit authorizations to service orders to the business role, this message doe not appear and we can create confirmations without issue. Any insight into why this message is appearing or how to resolve the issue without giving service order edit authorization is greatly appreaciated.

HI Elizabeth,

when creating a follow up confirmation writing access for the service order is required. At creation of the confirmation the preceeding service order is updated with status "confirmed" and the timestamp of the date the service was delivered. Therefore writing authorization for the preceeding service order is needed.

You can try to use BAdI CRM_ORDER_FIELDCHECK so the service orders can't be changed by the user that is creating the confirmation although they have writing access.
