task definition not found error

Dear Experts,

We have S4HANA environment wherein I have created a custom workflow scenario in design time to generate PO automatically in background. If PO generation gets errors then those errors will be sent to responsible in the email (next workflow step). Everything look good to me from design perspective but once I test my workflow scenario in ABAP I get an error message "Task Definition <Workflow Scenario ID> not found". I asked google but didn't find yet the hit that solves my issue. Please see the screen shot for details.

I have worked on workflows few years back but not re-engineered workflow for S4Hana. So creating design scenario is also new to me.

Best Regards,

Naeem Khan

    2- nothing wrong in SWU3 ?

    Cheers

    Hi,

Ok that is a flexible workflow, have you created the entry in manage my workflow fiori app ?

If not that is a mandatory step.

If yes what is you SAP ABAP version ? because the designer was available on early version but not working.

    Cheers

    Stephane

    • Hi Stephane,

Yes that's right I have designed a scenario to be consumed in Fiori App "Management Workflow" but I am doing it very first time in S4HANA environment don't know exactly where to add an entry. Event then I would ask, why this entery is important at this point once I like to test my workflow in ABAP environment before enabling it in the Fiori APP "Management Workflow".

Do you know is there any step guide or any example end to end shows to create custom workflow scenario in ABAP and then enable it in the Fiori app as flexible workflow for end-user?

      I would appreciate your help.

    Hi

I am one of the lucky one that participated in the customer influence with SAP when they showed up the technologie.

There is one blog I think showing it

It is important because the flexible workflow only provide the condition, event, determination rule of the agent, the task but not how you plan to orchestrate it , this is done via the manage my worklow apps. So without it you can not trigger an instance, you only have a model that can not be instanciated.

The definition that can be instanciated will result from your settings in the apps.

Alan Rickayzen can certainly provide you some good link for the documentation on flexible workflow.

    • Hi Stephane,

Nice that you have taken apart in the customer influence program. I already come accross with the blog you mentioned. I got the understanding of standard approval scenario from design time until Fiori app where you conditionally plan your flexible workflows.

I am looking some documentation where it explains how to create a custom workflow scenario, design it in SWDD_SCENARIO, and enable it using gateway services until Fiori app (Manage Workflows).

I will ask Alan, if he can provide such information link.

    • Hi TCS User1,

I was also facing the same issue. All the config and settings were in place, but was getting the error message: "Task definition *** not found".

I did the refresh in SWDD_SCENARIO transaction and issue got solved.

      Maybe you can try this.
